What is a live wedding painting?

A live wedding painting experience is a real-time artistic creation that captures a special moment from your wedding day, such as your ceremony, first dance, or the venue's ambiance.

I currently split my time between two homes—New York City and the Bay Area in Northern California. Travel expenses for live wedding packages are calculated based on the location closest to your venue.

How does the live painting process work?

Before the event, we will collaborate on the vision for your wedding portrait. On the day of the event, I arrive early, set up my easel, and begin sketching and painting during your event. The finished piece is taken to my studio for touch-ups, framing, and shipping.

Do you need any special accommodations from the venue the day of?

My setup is quick and easy, requiring no special accommodations. I’ll just need a chair.

Do you paint only for weddings?

I’m happy to be a live painter for any special occasion, such as birthdays, vow renewals, anniversaries, and more.

What is included in the price of a live wedding painting package?

Every package includes a painting of the newlyweds and up to two pets, framed in a museum-quality frame. Additional upgrades, such as extra people or pets, double matting, and anti-reflective glass, are available at an added cost.

How do I reserve my date?

A signed contract and a 25% deposit are required to secure your wedding date. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the event.

Can I customize the painting scene?

Absolutely! During our consultation, we’ll discuss the specific moment and background you’d like captured, such as your ceremony or first kiss.

Can I include people or pets who will not be present on the day?

Yes! I can incorporate your loved ones or pets into your portrait. I’ll just need reference photos before your wedding day.

I'm unsure what painting size to choose.

Sizes range from 11x14 inches to 18x24 inches. Consider the space where the painting will hang and the level of detail you want included. Larger sizes are better for detailed compositions.

Do you travel for weddings?

Yes! I am based in NYC and Northern California but available to travel across the US and internationally. Travel expenses apply for weddings outside my local areas.

How much are the travel expenses?

Travel expenses include transit from NYC or San Francisco to the venue and back, as well as hotel stays if required.

My venue requires a Certificate of Insurance (COI). Can you provide one?

Yes! Let me know if the venue requires specific wording, and I’ll send the certificate promptly.

My wedding day has already passed. Can I still commission a portrait?

Absolutely! I also create custom wedding portraits based on your favorite wedding photos.

Do you offer guest portraits?

Unfortunately, I don’t offer guest portraits unless they are included directly in your wedding portrait.

Live Event Painting Process

INTRODUCTION AND COMPOSITION DESIGN. We’ll get on an introductory video or phone call to discuss the details of your event and the scene you’d like me to capture (exchanging vows, first kiss, aisle walk, romantic moment with the venue backdrop, etc.).

DAY-OF SETUP. I’ll arrive a few hours before your event, set up my easel in an unobtrusive location, and begin sketching the background for your portrait.

PAINT, PAINT, PAINT. I continue painting throughout your ceremony and reception! Guests are invited to watch as your painting evolves throughout the event, capturing cherished moments like your first kiss or the joy of your reception. This live element not only creates a visual memory but adds an unforgettable experience for you and your loved ones. By the end of the night your painting will be fully or mostly complete (depending on the size and amount of detail you choose).

FRAMING AND SHIPPING. After the event, I’ll take your painting to my studio for touch-ups and add handwritten calligraphy (if requested). Before heading to you, I will frame your portrait with a museum-quality frame of your choice. The finished piece will be carefully packaged and shipped directly to you, ready to display and admire forever! Shipping is included in all packages.

Refund Policy

A full refund of the deposit is available for cancellations up to six months before the date of the event;
a 50% refund of the deposit is available for cancellations up to three months before the event.

Smaller sizes, such as 11 x 14 in and 12 x 16 in, make a more subtle and elegant statement. Larger sizes, like 16 x 20 in and 18 x 24 in, are better suited for a more prominent and eye-catching commemoration of your special day. Detail and Composition Considerations When selecting a size, it's important to consider the level of detail you’d like included in your painting. While it can be tempting to incorporate every loved one, floral arrangement, and décor element, too many small details can lead to a painting that feels busy or cramped. To maintain focus on the main subjects (you!) and keep the composition clean and balanced, I recommend choosing one or two focal points for the detailed elements—one of which will naturally be the newlyweds. If you’d like to include the bridal party and/or family in the portrait, a larger size is ideal to provide enough space and ensure the composition remains harmonious and doesn't feel overloaded. I’m happy to offer personalized recommendations during our consultations to ensure your painting turns out perfectly balanced and depicts your day the way you remember it!

Travel expenses typically include: - Transit from NY or San Francisco (whichever is closer to your venue) to the venue and back (flight fare, train tickets, car rental). Special offers for European and Canadian weddings! - Hotel expenses. If I can’t come back home from your venue on the same day, I’ll be including one or two nights at a hotel reasonably close to the venue (one - if I can get to the venue early enough on the day of the event; two - if I can’t get there early enough and have to travel the day before the event).
